A backsplash window is a really great feature, especially for small kitchens that can’t afford to sacrifice any storage space in favor of a source of natural light. The backsplash windows bring light exactly where needed and in addition to that they also give the space an unexpectedly fresh and open look. For this residence, Jacob Talbot designed a spacious kitchen with windows that cover almost an entire wall. That means there‘s no wall-mounted cabinetry on this side of the kitchen. The compromise is well worth it, considering how amazing the view of the lake is.
New company Plykea launched a series of birch ply doors and worktops that can be attached to IKEA’s ‘Metod’ kitchen cupboards. Digital product designer Tim Diacon wanted a speedy way in which to create a handsome kitchen on a finite budget. Already possessing an IKEA kitchen, Tim searched for a company that could make a set of birch ply fronts. Unsuccessful in his quest, Tim turned to his friend Adam Vergette for help—Adam is a furniture designer and a one-time production worker with Vitsœ. The two men hatched a plan to create an online service that would provide reasonably priced bespoke plywood doors, drawer fronts, worktops and cover panels for IKEA kitchen cabinets: and so Plykea was born.
There are so many colors that go amazingly well with white. The wall, floor, cabinets backsplash, countertop and appliances can carry the color that works magic with your white base. Let’s have a look at some of the attractive colors in a kitchen, shall we?
Finding the right color for your kitchen island is far simpler than you think. This first step is to settle on both the style and the color scheme of the kitchen itself. Once you have this sorted, most of the work is done and your choices are instantly narrowed down. A kitchen with too many colors looks cluttered and hence it is best to pick a color for the island that is repeated elsewhere. Of course, a left-field choice is always welcome in an eclectic kitchen, but it does not work in most other kitchens. Whether it is stunning teal island in a polished contemporary kitchen or one in sunny yellow at the heart of a traditional kitchen, keeping the cabinets and the backdrop as neutral as possible helps immensely as well.
