2017 is undoubtedly a year when design and decorating world has taken turn towards natural materials and interiors that are more nature-centric. With that in mind, it makes plenty of sense to add a dash of wooden warmth to your contemporary kitchen. Breaking the monotony of polished and pristine finishes in the kitchen, a pantry with wooden shelves or even a sliding barn door offers welcome change. The sliding barn door also saves precious space when compared to traditional doors that swing open. And if you are just looking for ways to give your old pantry a woodsy upgrade then custom wooden boxes and shelves are a smart alternative to consider.
The L-shaped counter of this kitchen allowed Jordan Iverson to design it with long and narrow windows instead of backsplashes. The windows meet in the corner and offer a refreshing and continuous view of the garden. There‘s plenty of space left for storage cabinets and shelves.
When the kitchen has such a great potential for a wonderful view, it‘s a real shame to ignore it. This is a residence located in Northcote, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Its kitchen is open and spacious and it compensates for the lack of windows with a skylight, a white-based color palette and an amazing panorama window instead of a backsplash.
It’s almost easy to overlook the fact that this kitchen is full of stainless steel. The details in the ceiling and upper cabinets are very much traditional, but this kitchen comes into the 21st century when we look at the countertops and lower cabinetry, which are all stainless steel and yet fit in perfectly with the more traditional pieces.
